What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
Therapy utilizes various therapeutic methods to address mental diagnoses and illnesses of individuals that can assist with the long-term results of trauma. It is a great healing treatment and is often a reoccurring (potentially life-long) process. Depending on the therapist, some individuals may attend therapy for years and still struggle with making changes or moving forward in their lives. This is where therapeutic coaching can assist.
Think of therapy as the fuel to the car, and coaching as the wheels to your car. Both are necessary to get the car moving but in different components. Coaching offers you the tools and parts to get you moving by bringing awareness to the barriers in your present environment. Once an individualized assessment is completed, we dive into guiding you through various tools to get you moving.
At Behavior Roots, we offer a unique service of therapeutic coaching which combines components of therapy and coaching for an effective and safe space to grow. The goal is for you to eventually leave with a solid foundation of who you are, and feel confident and empowered to build healthier relationships with yourself and others.
Both behavior coaching and personal therapy can be utilized in conjunction and may even be recommended depending on the individual’s personal history.
How long until I see results?
Results vary from person to person. There are several factors to consider: your consistency in implementing the tools I offer you, your commitment and presence to your sessions, your upbringing and degree of potential trauma, the individual barriers to your current situation, and more.
How long do clients typically work with you?
Therapeutic coaching can be a long-term process because it's not about quick fixes; it's about building fundamental, lasting change from the inside out. Just like traditional therapy, this work requires time to create new, healthy patterns in your nervous system and mind.
While I offer packages for a set number of sessions (i.e. 12-24 sessions), clients often find the work so valuable that many continue our work together past the set number of sessions for long-term, ongoing support.
Do you accept insurance?
No, Behavior Roots is considered out of network however can offer a Superbill upon request.
Where are services provided?
Services can be provided remotely (online) or in-person in San Francisco/Daly City area. Remote services are offered outside of San Francisco, CA and outside of the U.S. region.
Are my sessions discussed with anyone else?
No. All services are HIPAA-regulated. Personal information is not disclosed outside of the session unless permission is given otherwise. However, it is important to note that Behavioral Roots is obliged to report any suspect of emotional, physical, or sexual abuse to the state and does not need permission from the client to report these.
Do I need to submit any legal paperwork?
All clients may be subject to a background check and intake form before determining approval for services.
