Behavior Iceberg

$0.00

We’re often quick to correct what we see. Sometimes it’s for control, sometimes it’s because we’re triggered, and sometimes it’s because we simply don’t know what else to do.

But when we correct behavior that we only see on the surface, we aren’t addressing the whole story. It’s only the tip of the iceberg. 🧊

🚢 Underneath that anger might be shame.
🚢 Underneath that shutdown might be overwhelm.
🚢 Underneath that “noncompliance” might be fear, low confidence, or a nervous system that simply feels unsafe.

When we focus only on what’s visible, we end up managing behavior repeatedly until it gets worse.

When we get curious about what’s underneath, we start meeting needs, creating permanent change that we want to see.

And that’s where real change happens.

Before you correct, pause and ask:
🌱 What might this child/adult be communicating?
🌱 What feels hard for them right now?
🌱 What support are they not getting or did they not get?

What actually happened?

This visual iceberg reminds us to look deeper.
